Assignment With a partner or alone, create a portfolio of eight different printed advertisements. You may use magazines, phone books, or newspapers. Look for an array of different ads targeting different types of consumers. Additionally, look for both national and local advertisers. Cut the advertisement out and paste it directly onto your paper or staple it behind your paper. One written page per ad - even if you don't use up all of the room on the page. Clearly label where you retrieved the ad and the date (estimate if unsure). Write a paragraph for each advertisement indicating the typical geo-demographics of the targeted audience (age, gender, ethnicity, income, education level, geographic location, etc). Indicate the emotional response elicited from the reader-e.g. is it humorous, compassionate, motivating, energizing, angering, etc... What elements of the advertisement do the advertisers use to gain the reader's' attention (e.g., color or black/white, graphics, beauty, sex appeal, forceful words, luxurious images, etc.)? What other printed publications might this same advertiser be interested in running advertisements?
