Unusual Observations - "External Outlier" (1) 0 10 12 14 16 18 20 20 20 18 18 16 16 X 14 14 12 12 ZOO NU Un W W N 10 10 6 19 19 2 2 0 10 12 14 16 18 20 1. Omitting the outlier (19,19) : Find the correlation coefficient, r (and perhaps ?). Does there seem to be a linear relationship between x and y? Find the equation of the regression line and draw the line on the scatter plot. You can use both a computer graph and the paper graph. For the paper graph, you can plot 2 points, say at x = 0 and x - 20. 2. Including the outlier (19,19) : Note that it has an extreme x value. Again, find r (and perhaps r). Does there seem to be a linear relationship between x and y? Draw the new regression line. How does it compare with the previous regression line? Would you say that (19, 19) is an "influential" point? A point in a scatter plot is "Influential" point if it substantially alters the regression line
