The telecom server can provide service with an average of 15 calls/ms with service times described by an exponential distribution. The capacity of the queue is 10 million calls.
i. What is the model which can be used for this network? Justify your answer.
ii. List the two main equations used in deriving the performance measurements for this system.
iii. The network operator is concerned about the number of customers waiting in line and they want you to calculate the following system characteristics:
a) Average system utilization
b) Average number of customers in the system
c) Average number of customers waiting in line
iv. As the engineer, you realize that how long the customer must wait is also very important. You are also concerned about customers being dissatisfied when the waiting line is too long. So, you calculate the following system characteristics:
a) Average time a customer spends in the system
b) Average time a customer spends waiting in line
c) Probability of having more than two customers in the system v. After the network has been deployed, it is seen that the actual arrival rate is 14 calls/ms. Given this new information, you want to calculate the following system characteristics:
a) Average system utilization
b) Average time a customer spends waiting in line
c) Average number of customers waiting in line
vi. With the intension of achieving the forecasted customer experience, the network operator adds another server having the same capabilities of the existing server and pools the two servers with the same queue the network already has. As the engineer, you need to calculate the same performance measurements as above v to see the improvement of customer experience;
a) What is the model you are going to use? Justify your answer. Calculate the following;

vii. You are requested to present to the management a comparison of the customer experience as soon the network was deployed and once the second server was installed. Consider ONLY ONE important performance measurement. Explain what and how you will be presenting (in less than 500 Words).
