Assumptions:

For this exercise you need to assume that you are setting up data base tables for wholesale supplier. You can choose any wholesale business that you want. You are designing the tables needed for a billing system. You need to be able to record orders, shipments, bill the customer, update accounts receivable, and record relevant sales data. This application does not need to encompass the cash receipts function. To make it a little simpler you can assume that all of your customers purchase on their customer account (credit). For purposes of this exercise you should make the following assumptions:

• There are at least three products that can be ordered.
• You have ten sales people, that visit the customers and enter the orders.
• You keep an adequate supply of inventory so that items are rarely backordered.
• You are not designing a credit approval system.
• You want to track orders by sales person and geographic area.
• Credit terms for all customer are 2%/10 net 30 days.
• Freight terms are FOB shipping point.
• Ship to and bill to addresses can be different.
• Each customer has a primary contact who places the orders with our sales person.
• There is a fixed price list for each product that applies to all customers.
• There is no volume discount for any customer.
• All customers resell the products so no sales tax is charged.
• You need to determine what should be on the invoice sent to the customer.
• You need not prepare any packing lists because a copy of the invoice serves as the packing list for the shipment. You do need to track the freight company used and record the bill of lading number for tracking purposes.
• You do not need to print any order picking lists. It is all done in the billing system using tablet computers.
• To do a good job on this project you should do some basic searches to get an idea of what is typically on an invoice. You may want to look at several of the Excel templates that Microsoft provides.

What you need to deliver:

• A listing of all of the tables with the primary key and fields listed. Indicate how the tables are linked. You can do this in Access if you choose to do so, but do not have to do it there. You can use any tool you choose as long as I can read and understand your tables. If you do use Access you need to send me your Access file.
• You need to provide a narrative about how you completed this project, what difficulties you had, and what you learned from this exercise. No other written information is required. Make sure that the file names include your last name.
• You do not have to do a single query for this assignment.
