1. At 12 weeks of being on a performance management plan the childcare service director has reviewed an observation early childhood educator Sally has completed.

Alex was playing with some pine cones. He was lining them up along the carpet. He was counting them touching them with his finger. He counted up to 22. Gihan came over and said, "let's put them in sizes". Ben said, "Yeah we'll start with the big ones up this end." They both worked together lining the pinecones up in size order.

Notes for the Director

Sally's approach is much improved and now only has some minor improvement needed.

• The anecdotal observation is recorded in past tense written after the event. It is clearer and now follows a logical sequence and focuses on the event being observed.
• The anecdotal observation contains more explicit detail of development and the child's approach to learning.
• The anecdotal observation is now objective and does not include personal opinion
• The anecdotal observation now includes actual quotes when there is a dialogue between child and child.
• You notice however that Sally is sticking closely to using short anecdotal observation recordings and is not attempting other observation methods.

Describe the ongoing feedback the director could provide to Sally to help her meet her improvement goals. In your response, include:
