At Bradley Park Hospital, the proposed LSS project is to change the OR scheduling system. Currently, the block scheduling approach is used. Surgeons choose blocks of time in the OR$,$ and patients$$ surgeries are scheduled within those time frames. One of the problems with this technique is that it results in substantial unused OR time. The other is that the schedule does not match the degree of urgency of various elective surgeries.

There are two players in this discussion: the Chief Quality Officer and the Chief of Surgery. The first player feels that the system needs to be overhauled and improved. The second one feels that the system is good and should remain as is$.$

Each one of you should assume a role $($let me know who is who$)$ and contribute to a productive discussion leading to: $1)$ a final decision on whether or not to pursue the project, $2)$ the reasons for the decision, and $3)$ the steps to take following the discussion.
