Question:
At the end of this unit you will be completing a unit project. Feel free to work on this project as you work through each of the module 1 lessons. For the module project, imagine that you have two upcoming interviews to work as an accountant. One interview is with a for-profit organization. The work is not very exciting, but the pay is fabulous. The other interview is at a not-for-profit organization. This job is at a business that is dedicated to a cause that is very important to you, but the pay is about half as much as it would be in the first company. make list of discussion points that would help you prepare for each interview. Which job skills would you stress in each interview and why? If both companies were to offer you a position, which would you accept, and why?
Goal
To obtain a position as an accountant that will both reflect and meet your skills, needs and desires in the field.
Role
Interviewee for both a for-profit and not-for-profit organization. In preparation of these interviews you will also be creating a list of discussion points as well as a list of pros/cons to help you determine which job offer to accept.
Audience
Potential employers for both a for-profit and not-for-profit organization that will be interviewing you for an available accounting position at their firms.
Situation
After applying for two accounting positions, one at a for-profit organization and one at a not-for-profit organization, you have been selected for an interview at both firms. Using the discussion list you have created ahead of time, you will prepare self for each of the interviews. After both interviews you will then pros/cons list to help you decide which position would work best for you and your goals.
