At this point, it is time for you to start reaching out to someone you would like to get information order for you to start working on your internship/career. The best way to do this is through an Informational Interview. There are a number of resources available in Learning Materials in BB to you with preparing for the Informational Interview. You will need to do is find someone in the industry you would like to work in and set up an inform interview with them, either by phone or video conferencing. You will need to do research on your interviewee, and their company. You cannot interview someone you currently know, work with, re to, or are employed in the same company. An Informational Interview is done in three parts: 1. Being prepared which means research, preparing your questions 2. Conducting the interview 3. Follow-up/thank you Interviewing your current boss or someone at your current place of employment will not be considere an Informational Interview. Requirements of Informational Interview: Appendix 1: Informational Interview 1. Proof of meeting/talking to a person you did the Informational Interview with. This could either be a business card and a screenshot of communication or an email trail. Remember, the person you reached out to may be contacted by your instructor to verify the assignment was done. 2. What does one need to know to be able to be successful in this career or industry? 3. What information did you learn about this industry/ career that you did not know prior to researching? 4. Include a screenshot of the thank you sent to the person you interviewed. The screenshot needs to include the date and recipient email. 5. Use the template format provided. 6. You need to insert the answers to the questions in 1 person. 7. You can conduct this informational interview in person, via SKYPE, Zoom, Teams or over the phone. You cannot email the individual the questions and obtain the answers in this manner. This is not considered an informational interview. 8. Marks will be deducted for late submissions.
