Australasian Muskelon Automotive Company (AMAC) manufactures a small electric car that is supplied to customers throughout the world. The company buys most of its required components from local suppliers. AMAC also produces a few critical components itself. To ensure smooth production, the components stock is maintained. Once a batch of cars is manufactured, they are held in stock for despatch to customers. Orders received from customers are despatched the week after they are received, and production is also planned on a weekly basis. Thus, when all is running well, AMAC should have an order backlog of one week, and it should be possible to meet this from stock. Stockholding is planned by forecasting the order rate for the next period, thus AMAC tries to hold three times the forecast of the next period's orders. You are required to develop a Mind Map and an Influence Diagram for the above given problem scenario and briefly explain the logic of using the factors and their effects in those diagrams. Develop a Mind Map for the problem scenario. Write a few sentences to justify each factor used in the Mind Map. Develop an Influence Diagram for the problem scenario. Write a few sentences to justify each factor and each directed arc (with effect) used in the influence diagram. Mind Map Reasonable number of factors used Justification of used factors Appropriate assumptions Clarity of drawing Influence Diagram Reasonable number of factors used Justification of used factors Appropriate assumptions Clarity of drawing Positives: Identification of important, but reasonable number of, factors Brief justification of each factor selection (one sentence; maximum two sentences) Appropriate grouping /looping of factors Brief justification of links or effects (usually one sentence) Meaningful assumptions (if any required) Negatives: Selection of too many factors and/or unnecessary factors Lengthy or inappropriate explanation for factors or links /effects Inappropriate group, loop, link, etc. Unnecessary assumptions
