(B) Problem question 1. Anne met Lawrence in mainland China and they got married there in 2004. Lawrence was a Hong Kong resident. He returned to Hong Kong and bought a flat to be the family home. The title to the flat was in Lawrence's name. Lawrence contributed HK$ 3 million to the purchase price and borrowed the remaining HK$5 million of the purchase price from the Shatin Bank. Anne was reluctant to come to Hong Kong because she had a very good job in Shanghai. She agreed to join Lawrence in Hong Kong in 2005 when Lawrence told her that he would always look after her and that she would have a secure home in Hong Kong When Anne joined Lawrence in Hong Kong she asked him why her name was not on the title deeds. Lawrence told Anne that she need not worry. This was the family home. He told Anne that he would have put her name on the title deeds but that it would be very difficult to do it now because the title was already registered at the Land Registry. Anne did not push the matter any further. Anne and Lawrence had two children. Anne devoted herself to looking after the home and family while Lawrence pursued his career.
