They currently have five diners, three laundromats, and two gas stations. Recently they have decided to expand their operations to include parking services. XYZ City has a parking problem, which is leading to the loss of business for many companies. The client has been a part of XYZ City's business community for over 25 years. Their main objective for expanding their business portfolio to include parking is to attract more customers to businesses, particularly in areas where their businesses are located. Also, they want to provide a safe location for customers to leave their vehicles while they are out and about engaging in their daily endeavors. Vehicle theft in parking lots has increased exponentially in the past two years in ABC City. To that end, they have acquired a property on Blue Forrest Road, very close to Bing Forrest Airport. This is a prime location to construct a parking facility as there is a huge cluster of businesses in the area and greater demand for parking spaces than availability. They are targeting customers for short-term and long-term parking, ranging from several minutes to weeks. Overview of the property The land size spans 10.12 acres. The property has two entrances and two exits. There is an office at the front of the property, which houses the security station for the parking complex. There are two points of entrance to the property each having a security checkpoint. Overview of the project The client is seeking to build a state-of-the-art parking lot. They have made good progress with work so far. The paving, marking, and lighting of the parking lot are almost complete, but the area is not secure. Currently, the client does not have any resources in-house with the skills or experience to complete the work. Consequently, they are seeking the services of a suitable company to install automatic vehicle barriers and surveillance cameras on the property. They are anticipating the vehicle barrier and camera project to start sometime in the spring of 2023 and finish by the end of summer. The client has not established a budget yet but is willing to sign off on a reasonable estimate for the work. Below you will find a sketch of the layout of the property. Figure 1: Sketch of Everglades Inc. parking complex Additional Information 1. The client is considering hiring your networking contracting company, NBCC Networks, for the vehicle and surveillance project. Below you will find a breakdown of resources available in the company, including yourself. a. Senior Network Administrator (You) b. Network Administrator x1 c. Network Support Technician x3 2. Beautification of the space (planting of flowers, trees, etc.) is something on the cards for the client, however, is not in their short-term plans. 3. The client is okay with your company outsourcing work that is beyond your team's capabilities. However, the talent outsourced must reside in XYZ City. 4. Equipment and materials for the project are not sourced yet. You are responsible for determining the resources needed to fulfill the client's requirements and plan accordingly. 5. XYZ City usually has torrential rain in the spring. 6. There is a lighting team currently installing energy-efficient streetlights at strategic points on the property. This is to honor the client's wishes of not having any dark patches on the property. 7. Four automatic vehicle barriers are needed, one for each entrance and exit point. 8. The perimeter fence is already erected. 9. The automatic vehicle barrier must possess a parking access control system that prints tickets and requires customers to pay for using the facilities. Casks: 1. Write a brief report outlining the approach you took to your project planning and justification for doing so. Your approach must outline why you choose the tasks you did, why you used the resources you did, and why you sequenced the tasks the way you did. Include assumptions made for the project in your report. 2. Develop a realistic budget and schedule for it in MS Project.
