Background:

Jared conducted a survey in which he asked 185 college students to indicate whether they had purchased an exercise DVD (variable name = ordered_exercise_dvd). Jared had students study a five-item measure,Perceived Physical Fitness(PPF), an assessment that evaluates respondent perceptions of their physical fitness (q1 through q5).

Each PPF item uses a response scale that ranges from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree), with index scores computed by adding responses for PPF items q1 through q5.

Jared is interested in describing PPF responses among students who did not report purchasing an exercise DVD.

Jared's dataset includes information regarding whether respondents purchased an exercise DVD along with their responses to a five-item, wellness-focused scale called Perceived Physical Fitness.

Analyses to be Completed in SPSS:

• Compute Perceived Physical Fitnessscores for each respondent.
  • Notes:
    • Index scores are computed by summing together each of the fiveitems ( items q1 through q5)
    • Be sure to review/evaluate items and recode any relevant item(s)
• Calculate descriptives for Perceived Physical Fitnessscores by ordered_exercise_dvd (factor variable).

• Calculate descriptives for Perceived Physical Fitnessscores segmented (factored) by ordered_exercise_dvd
