Based on Below information What is the appropriate statistical test and what would be the hypothesis?
Imagine you were a job candidate trying to pitch your skills to a potential employer. Would you be more likely to get the job after giving a short speech describing your skills, or after writing a short speech and having a potential employer read yourwords?
To examine this possibility, you have randomly assigned 39 professional recruiters for Fortune 500 companies to one of two conditions. In the audio condition, participants listened to audio recordings of a job candidate's spoken job pitch. In the transcript condition, participants read a transcription of a job candidate's pitch. After hearing or reading the pitch, the participants rated the job candidates on three dimensions: intellect, general impression and hiring likelihood. Every evaluator (either given a transcript or audio recording of the interview) gave ratings on a scale from 0 to 10 for each of these variables.
Methodological Information
Thirty-nine professional recruiters (mean age = 30.85 years, SD = 6.24; 9 males) from Fortune 500 companies voluntarily agreed to evaluate pitches of job candidates from the University of New South Wales School of Psychology. These recruiters had attended a conference at the University of New South Wales and were e-mailed after the conference to request their participation in the study. The target sample for participation in this study were all 90 conference participants, the recruiters who responded to the email invitation were included in the study. The study was conducted online.
Twenty MBA students were videorecorded giving spoken elevator pitches to their top potential employers. They were instructed to speak directly to the camera and were given 2 minutes to talk, but they were allowed to reach the natural conclusion of their pitch (actual video duration ranged from 49s to 2 min and 30s). The stimuli for the evaluators were either the audio recordings of a spoken pitch (audio condition) or a transcript of the spoken pitch (transcript condition). The evaluators were assigned to one of the two conditions. The evaluators in the audio condition listened to the spoken pitch, and those in the transcript condition read a transcribed pitch. Each evaluator, therefore, observed only one candidate's pitch in one medium. After hearing or reading a candidate's pitch, evaluators answered three questions about the candidates. They rated each candidate on a) their hiring likelihood b) perceived intelligence, and c) genera; impression. All responses were recorded on Likert scale labelled from 0 to 10.
