Based on our earlier success, we decide to conduct one more pilot study: We are interested in how women confront their male romantic relationship dating partner about suspected infidelity. We decide to sample (find and ask) women that actually respond in one way or another. Since we are interest in the possibility of women using either direct or indirect ways of dealing with this issue, we created this RQ:

• Is there a difference in women's use of direct or indirect confrontation strategies when dealing with their partner's suspected infidelity?

A direction confrontation strategy would be flat-out asking your partner "What's with this number on your phone all the time?" or "I saw you talking with that girl and taking her number, what the hell?"

Indirect confrontation strategies could possibly be involving a third person to help or ask, repeated observation of the partner's behavior, hinting or suggesting without directly bringing up the problem ("So you had a good time at the party tonight huh?").

We decide to invite 200 women, through our friends' friends, in romantic dating relationships to an extra credit survey opportunity and present them with the same "possible infidelity scenario." After listening, the participant is then asked "Considering your current relationship partner and how you normally deal with things, how would you respond to this?"After data collection, we organize all the women's responses into either "Direct" or "Indirect" confrontation strategies: We end up with 168 women would use direct strategies, and 32 that would use indirect strategies.
