Each value has a unique meaning and an ordered relationship to every other value on the scale. Each value is inherently greater or lesser than the others. Everyday Example: Likert scale on a questionnaire. For example: strongly agree, neutral, and strongly disagree. You read that Kentucky Blaze won his last race. This means that he came in first, before the horse that placed (came in second), and the horse that showed (came in third).
