Bearings of Steel has been manufacturing ball bearings as one of its main products. Due to the firms unique production process, one third of the required materials is added first and the remaining two thirds of required materials are added when conversion is 60% complete. This month started with 86,000 ball bearings in process (had not yet started any conversion work on these units). Cost incurred on these units totaled $45,000. Also, the company started another 310,000 ball bearings from scratch. At the end of the month, 78,500 ball bearings were incomplete. The incomplete units were 70% complete with respect to conversion cost. Total materials cost for the current month was found to be $214,000 while conversion cost for the current month was $186,000. Use the CH 20 tab of the template to calculate equivalent units of production and cost per equivalent unit based on the above information.
