  • Assignment composition:As part of the Business Simulation and Report, you will need to complete the following (marks are allocated for each of the below milestones)***:
  • 1) Complete all parts (all tabs of the excel spreadsheet) of the simulation games;
  • 2) Calculate all ratios from the excel spreadsheet (both for the 2019 and 2020 financial year);
  • 3) Write a report comparing your 2019 ratios to the 2020 ratios.

  • This assessment will take you a significant amount of time, therefore it is strongly recommended that you start as early as possible, and allocate enough time to complete the all three parts (please see above) of the assessments.The assessment will need to be completed individually, and is not time limited. The Business Simulation spreadsheet is made available to you from the start of the semester. Therefore, please use this tool to support your learning on a weekly basis (i.e. when you learn of a new concept / business strategy, have a play with the simulation to see the effect of this strategy on the profitability of your business).

  • The total marks for this assessment is 40%. Please see marks breakdown below:
  • 1) Complete all parts (all tabs of the excel spreadsheet) of the simulation games - 5 Marks;
  • 2) Calculate all ratios from the excel spreadsheet (both for the 2019 and 2020 financial year) - 15 Marks;
  • 3) Write a report comparing your 2019 ratios to the 2020 ratios - 20 Marks.

  • Prior to completing the business simulation, carefully watch the instruction video provided below and carefully read through the instruction PDF provided below.
  • When completing your report, please refer to the example provided on the first page of the "Business Simulation Instruction Document" (please find this below) and ensure to word your report as per the examplar.
  • Once you have completed all three milestones described above, you will be required to upload (please refer to the instruction video [see below] on "How to submit your assessment"):
  • a) Your completed Simulation (the full spreadsheet) - please label the file as "studentnumber.lastname.campus.xlsx" (i.e. "12345678.Smith.Bentley.xlsx"); and
  • b) Your report (ensuring that you follow the structure as provided in the example in red above) in word version - please label the file as "studentnumber.lastname.campus.doc" (i.e. "12345678.Smith.Bentley.docx").

  • If a technical problem occurs while you are taking an online quiz/test/exam/assignment conducted within Blackboard/Wiley Plus (e.g. issues with Blackboard / Wiley Plus, an unforeseen loss of internet connection) and you are not able to continue with the online quiz/test/exam/assignment in Blackboard / Wiley Plus because of the technical problem, you should email the following parties immediately with details explaining the event and attach any supporting materials (e.g. screenshots showing the issue that has arisen):
  • (a) your Unit Coordinator; and
  • (b) your local Instructor (where applicable)
  • If a technical problem occurs and you are not able to submit your assessment through Blackboard / Wiley Plus or through Turnitin within the time allocated to you, email your Unit Coordinator immediately with details explaining the event and attach:
  • (a) any supporting materials (e.g. screenshots showing the issue that has arisen); and
  • (b) a copy of your completed assessment.
  • It is noted that you will be taking the assessment at your residence or at another environment where other people might be present (e.g. a library). So far as possible, however, you should try to ensure that the environment is conducive to you being able to focus on the assessment and remain uninterrupted during it. During the quiz/test/exam/assignment, you must not communicate with anyone else by any means except that it is acceptable to communicate with a child during the quiz/test/exam/assignment, if necessary, and it is also acceptable to briefly indicate to an adult that you are taking an quiz/test/exam/assignment).
  • During the quiz/test/exam/assignment:
  • You must not use any software or devices to take screenshots of the text in an online quiz/test/exam/assignment conducted within Blackboard / Wiley Plus or any other portal.
  • You must not print a copy of the quiz/test/exam/assignment.
  • You should answer quiz/test/exam/assignment questions using your own words. If you decide it is necessary to direct quote (i.e. word for word) from a source, please note the Guidance on Plagiarism given above.
