Benzaldehyde is produced from toluene in the catalytic reaction C 6 H 5 CH 3 + O 2 C 6 H 5 CHO + H

Benzaldehyde is produced from toluene in the catalytic reaction
C6H5CH3+ O2 C6H5CHO + H2O
C6H5CH3+9O27CO2+4H2O
Dry air and toluene enter the reactor. Air is supplied in 100% excess. Of the toluene fed to the reactor,
13% reacts to form benzaldehyde and 0.5% reacts with O2 to produce CO2 and H2O. The product gas
leaves the reactor and enters a condenser. Over a four hour period, 13.1 kg of water is condensed from
the product gases. Assume complete condensation.
IIa. Draw and label a complete flow chart for the process
IIb. Perform a degree of freedom analysis around the process.
IIc. Calculate the molar flow rates of toluene into the process and of benzaldehyde in the product.
