You own a technology service provider business, named TechFeast Sdn. Bhd. Recently, your team consisting yourself, as the system analyst, a programmer, a database administrator and a project manager had a discussion with regards to development of a new clients web-based payroll system. The discussion was purposely held to plan, visualize and estimate the duration for the proposed project. The project development is planned for kick off on June 2021 and should be completed within a year. Followings are the excerpts from the discussion:

Project Manager : Good morning everyone. Thank you for attending this discussion. As you may aware of, we need to draft a timeline for a new system to be developed for our client, C21 Sdn Bhd. Let me invite our system analysts to brief us about the remaining tasks to be conducted during the systems analysis and design phases.

System Analyst : Well, we have completed the fact finding task last week. Our team has managed to gain a clear understanding of the current problems and has discussed with users on their requirements for the new system. The team will now sit together to draft the initial system requirement analysis. Ermmfive days for drafting the initial analysis.

Project Manager : Good. So I guess we should consider conducting the feasibility analysis after preparing the draft of initial system requirement.

System Analysts : Definitely. Perhaps, five days will be adequate for the team to conduct the technical and operational feasibility analysis. At the same time, a three-day financial feasibility analysis should resume concurrently. Then we need 13 days to finalise the system requirement analysis, including data and process modelling.

Database Administrator : In that case, I suggest that we begin with system design phase right after finalising the system requirement analysis and process modelling. It might take another five to seven days to prepare the design. Five days for designing the system interface and seven days for designing its database. These design tasks can commence concurrently.

Programmer : I agree. We can then focus on the programming task, including coding and testing after completion of all the design tasks. It might take about eight days for coding and testing.

System Analysts : Well, it seems that we can start on the system changeover afterwards. I guess we allocate a week for the changeover.

Project Manager : Well done, team. I think that is enough for todays discussion. We will catch up very soon for further discussion on the system progress. For the meantime, can I request our system analyst to prepare a proper documentation from our discussion today?

System Analyst : Yes, sure. I will prepare the timeline starting from drafting the initial analysis task until the system changeover task in a PERT chart and email it to all team members.
