Management consists of individuals who are appointed to positions of management, derive their power from their position in the organization, who plan, organize, direct, control, and primarily manage through transactional leadership strategies (Black & Bright, 2019). Leadership, however, is dynamically constructed through social influence (Black & Bright, 2019). Leaders can be appointed to management positions, but management positions are not a requirement for leaders to emerge. Followers will follow leaders for various reasons, ranging from charisma to expertise to relationships, but mainly because they are intrinsically motivated to do so (Black & Bright, 2019). At the top of the ladder is our superintendent, our Board of Education, and our assistant superintendents.
