Bob Buckman developed a KM system to share information and facilitate communication within his company. Bob Buckman did not want to run the company as his father did. Managers did not know each other even though they worked for the same company. He noticed that not sharing information was a weakness, and his company couldn't service its customers. Buckman wanted a system where employees could enter knowledge themselves, user-friendly, and a system that would be available 24-7. Those who contributed to sharing valuable knowledge were given incentives as motivation. He also empowered his employees by setting goals.

I would thrive in that environment because I believe knowledge is power. The more you know, the better you are at your job. However, some individuals might feel uncomfortable with this system. As described in this week's reading, Chapter 9, it can make employees feel less valuable. I have always thought that working together and helping each other makes life easier for everyone. Also, searching for a question and getting an answer related to your job is fascinating. I have encountered multiple scenarios when I am working, and suddenly I get stuck, and the only person who can help is unavailable. For me, that's a significant setback for any organization.
