"Bonnie Weisgram died from smoke inhalationduring a fire in her home. Her son, Chad Weis-gram, sued Marley, the maker of a heater,claiming it was defective and caused the fire. Attrial, Weisgram offered expert witness testimonyto prove that the heater was defective. Marleyobjected that the testimony was unreliable andtherefore inadmissible, but the judge overruledthe objections; the jury found for Weisgram.
