Chapter 2

1. How would you explain gender differences in the crime rate? Why do you think males are more violent than females?

2. The UCR reports that crime rates are higher in large cities than in small towns. What does that tell us about the effects of violent TV and films and rap music on teenage behavior?

Chapter 3

1. Considering what you learned in this chapter about crime victimization, what measures can you take to better protect yourself from crime?

2. Does a person bear some of the responsibility for his or her victimization if the person maintains a lifestyle that contributes to the chances of becoming a crime victim? In other words, should we "blame the victim?"
