Both emotional turbulence and social hostility combined create an unsafe mentality. We can see this in our daily battle for acceptance in our current society; teenagers mostly go through this since they are still trying to discover who they are, and the current unrealistic characteristics that social media show us make it difficult for them to find their true selves. This toxic point of view of themselves and starts creating emotional turbulence. Social hostility comes in when others do not want to accept whom we decide to be. This creates a hostile environment for them since they have "identified" their true self and start feeling discriminated against and unaccepted.

Why an adolescent might turn to suicide.

Going to Kohlberg's theory (1981) leads adolescents to suicide due to their inability to differentiate right or wrong due to their feelings. This is when Gilligan's theory shows that depending on their sex, they tend to be more different in how they feel about certain things. (Gilligan, 1982.) Social development comes from our parents. Erikson's theory shows this by giving examples of how different types of babies gave the parents either good or bad parenting. (Erikson, 1963.) Erikson also talks about how meeting babies' emotional needs create a special bond with their parents. Once the parents have reached and created a special and unbreakable bond with their children, they become great human beings once they grow older.

Suggestion for a teen victim of bullying.

Using the theories provided would create a better environment for a baby, especially once they grow up and start their teenage years. We must teach our current generation that they should not be afraid to speak up about their feelings and show them that they are stronger than they think. Parents must demonstrate to their children that being different should not make them feel less important than anybody else. It is never too late to start creating that special bond with kids.
