Both of these scriptures discuss the Pharisees trying to trap Jesus by asking them to pay taxes. The answer is simple, give to Caesar what is Cesars and give to God what is Gods. I think that clearly states that we are to abide by our civic duties on this earth which include paying taxes. It is a responsibility we have on this earth to be moral and follow rules and regulations that we may not like or think is fair. There is a stigma behind tax preparers and that they are trying to steal as much money from the taxpayer. Unfortunately, there are corrupt tax preparers, but that is in every industry. Our job as accountants, especially for those who want to go into the field of taxation, is to be honest and ethical. Our intentions should be to serve Gods people in providing a service and following the regulation to collect and refund tax payers. When it comes to tax planning, I believe that as long as its done ethically and the tax preparer is helping the taxpayer while not breaking any laws. In a field like taxation, it can be easy to fall into the temptation of fraud, but we are to be Christlike not only in our career, but in all aspects of our life.
