Brian and Marci cohabitated for nearly 20 years. During that time, they both contributed a great deal of effort to the establishment of a successful cattle farming operation. Marci dedicated 100% of her home daycare income to household expenses, mortgage, food, utilities, maintenance and improvements, and did all the household work. 100% of her labour and income was dedicated for to the couple's life. In contrast, Brian, used 100% of his income from the cattle business to purchase properties. As a result, title to almost all of the couple's assets was in his name alone. The relationship eventually fell apart due to Brian's abusive nature. Marci then claimed to have a proprietary interest in half of the accumulated assets.
Is Marci entitled to a proprietary interest in the accumulated assets given that Brian used his income to purchase the properties and they are mostly in his name? Please explain your answer.
