Briefing Note #3 Task and Context: 1. You are a senior economist working for the Government of Canada and have been asked to brief a federal minister (you will need to choose the most appropriate minister to address) on Canada's refusal to respond to requests for exports of liquified natural gas. Situate your briefing note within the context of economic prosperity and international cooperation. According to the OECD, \"Trust is the foundation upon which the legitimacy of democratic institutions rests. Trust is crucial for ensuring the success of a wide range of public policies that depend on behavioural responses from the public.\" In this case, the briefing note will focus on whether Canada should be responding, in full, to requests for more energy exports from some of its allies. For example, most recently, Greece has been looking for a reliable partner to supply it with liquified natural gas, but Canada has refused to increase its exports of natural gas. The Liberal government cites climate concerns. This is a \"For Recommendation/Decision briefing note, so you are to develop options (usually 3) and make a recommendation, to the minister on supplying (or not) liquified natural gas to Canada's allies. You can choose one country or group all those countries that have expressed interest in Canada's liquefied natural gas. You will have to research this information. Your note should address whether your recommendation will strain or not change Canada's support for the principles of cooperation and institutional trust. No article accompanies these instructions. The issue is, broadly, \"Should Canada supply X with liquified natural gas?\" Y ou may want to modify the issue to suit the specific information in your note. 2. Important note: As per the lecture on briefing notes (BNs), know your audience and what is important to them. Familiarize yourself with the department's mandate. Do not write your BN in the manner you would an essay for experts in your field. Do not write as a journalist/reporter. Do not use the vernacular. Research the issues to inform your advice to the minister, and integrate your knowledge of economics (from this and all your other courses) into the BN. No references or citations in your BN, please! Do not plagiarize. Please see your Moodle course page for the due date and to submit your file
