Briggs Manufacturing Company is located in Patterson, California. They manufacture trophies and plaques. They have 120 employees in their Patterson location. COVID hit them as all other companies in California. They had 3 employees die from COVID and 11 others hospitalized.

The company wants to require all employees to wear masks while at the workplace. They changed their rules and put posters all over the facility. They also notified the two unions at the location and sent messages out to all employees about the new rule.

A group of employees complained that they did not want to wear any masks and that they would be protesting the company policy. They argue that they have their Vaccines and that they are safe to work without masks. They also argued that the masks were very uncomfortable to wear and hurt their ears at the end of the day.

The company president Jimmy Rico made the argument that even vaccinated people could transmit the virus to other people. The company was considering requiring all employees to have proof of vaccination but decided on a face-mask policy instead.

After a meeting with the company officers a group of workers decided to hold a rally in the Patterson center park saying that Briggs was violating personal freedoms of workers.

Jimmy Rico called his lawyers to ask what he could and should do. His lawyer told him that he needs to amend the company policy to say that the company is imposing a new Dress Code and that only approved face masks are allowed. The lawyer cited several cases by Disneyland where they required employees to have certain looks and outfits for particular jobs.
