care unit. The study was designed to examine the development of BPD by day 28 of life in a sample of 223 infants weighing less than 1750 grams. The data set has the following variables:

  • bpd = BPD (1 = yes, 0 = no)
  • bweight = birth weight (grams)
  • gestage = gestational age (weeks)
  • toxemia = mother had toxemia during pregnancy (1 = yes, 0 = no)

The bpd.xlsx data set and SAS will be used to answer the last 4 questions on this exam.

  1. Getting a feel for the data is an important first step when doing data analysis.
    1. Provide appropriate descriptive statistics and graphical displays for each of the four variables in the data set for the whole sample of 223 infants.
