Brownsville is a town named after its great founder BB. The town stays relatively quiet and offers locals the chance to relax with friends and family. For consecutive years in 2021 and 2022, Brownsville was named "most close-knit town" by Homes magazine. This meaning that Brownsville is quite the family oriented town, making it very friendly. While 200,000 residents may seem like a lot, Brownsville is a town much like the bar from "Cheers" - everyone knows your name. Brownsville is unique for several reasons. While the majority of residents are quite wealthy, the cost of living and the price of property are quite low. It is not uncommon for families to own 2 or 3 small homes or estates. Because of this, families have been living in Brownsville for generations, and have been passing down homes/estates to their children for decades. This makes Brownsville even more unique, as for some odd reason, family couples, once they reach a certain age group, pass down their estates to family and move away from the area. Though it has been well documented that the Brownsville residents are very welcoming, they have been known to be 'stand-offish' when it comes to new business ventures. Brownsville residents welcome mom and pop stores, and are quite the anti-corporate group. In 2016, when a Wal-Mart was being built in Brownsville, the residents put on an active boycott that lasted for several months. Needless to say, the Wal-Mart did not last. The structure that would have been the Wal-Mart is now a bakery (Brownsville residents are known for their love of pastries), ran by local residents. "Anything too corporate does not sit well with us! We need companies that can speak to us as local Brownsvillers" said local resident, Matt Longhway. Brownsville residents are known for their active nature. Aside from jet skiing and mountain climbing, they frequent sporting events in the surrounding California area quite often. The town has a number of sport bars, all of which broadcast the local Californian teams. "We love us some sports...whether playing or watching...and we're pretty loyal" said local, Drew White. Their active nature and their sense of togetherness allows for the residents to partake in a number of the town's festivals (12 per year, to be exact); all of which are well attended by residents. What makes Brownsville unique is its wonderful location. The town is on the perimeter of a massive lake and is surrounded by mountains. Residents take pride in their mountain climbing abilities, but are also quick to point out their love for jetskiing. Being that the town's people are quite wealthy, the residents make it a point to maintain the upkeep of their beautiful location. Many visitors from around the United States have taken note of Brownsville's astonishing picturesque landscape. An editor from Homes magazine noted, "...that view...when you get the mountains and the water in your sight...there's nothing like it in the world." If you are ever to see a postcard from Brownsville, it will undoubtedly be of the massive pieces of land underneath the mountains, bordering Brownsville's famous lake, Lake Brown. The only thing rivaling the view from Lake Brown is the view from Lake Monistare, the bordering town's lake. Though not as nice, Lake Monistare has been known to draw residents away from Brownsville and is quite the tourist destination. While Brownsville residents do not care for corporate America, they are respectful and quite welcoming to tourists. In fact, one resident, Ryan Robertson, was quoted as saying, "it's a shame that we don't get many tourists here...it may bring our economy a bit more money...that would help with all of the mountain erosion that's been going on". It would seem that though the residents of Brownsville are quite content with their quaint town, a little extra attention and money wouldn't hurt...
