Group work In the modern workplace, many tasks are performed by teams. Therefore, it is important that students learn to become responsible team members and to coordinate work with others. A signicant portion of student grades in this course come from team projects. It is important that all team members cooperate with each other and perform high-quality work. You will be assigned to a new team for each project Collaboration - not divide and 120an Research shows that the nal product of a group project is better when the group works together throughout the project. This is a challenging skill to learn but learn it eady and it will improye your experience in school and in work settings. To work collaboratively, some behaviors are required: Communication - the group must meet on zoom with cameras on at least 3 times per week for at least 3t] minutes per meeting. This creates the relationships that support the project as well as gives you the pre-set timer'day to work on the project together. Process - there should be a google doc set up early where you keep the outline of the project, write the content as you develop it and keep the meeting notes at the bottom. In this class, this document should be shared with the instructor [editing privileges] Bring information to the group - at the end of each meetingr each member should be clear on what they need to go out and nd prior to the next meeting. These should be documented in meeting notes that should be at the bottom of your google doc. Discussions - the content of these meetings must include a discussion of the materials - not just assignments of who does what While you will each go out and nd your own sources and materials, the group meetings is where you discuss what you found, learn from what others found and determine how and where to incorporate the material into the project Writing - writing a group project is a group undertaking. Each section of writing should be reviewed and discussed during group meetings. Everyone needs to process the information together. By doing group writing, the sentences will be clear and more concise than a single writer. Editing the entire group should work together at the end of the project to edit the full paper to eliminate any oyeda ps or repeated information that arose during the project Check sources, add missing irr-tekt citations. Team Agreement At the beginning of each projectr I will ask each team to create an agreement around team norms-or, the "rules\" and - Team Agreement At the beginning of each project, I will ask each team to create an agreement around team norms--or, the "rules" and expectations around how you operate as a team. Be sure to think about quality and quantity of work, presence at meetings, coope rative ness, method and timeliness of communication and submission of work, and how you will resolve conicts. Remember, not all conict is \"bad." Sometimes, there will be disagreements about how to proceed on a task. This is a normal part of working on teams. However, rudeness, undermining, bullying, social loafing {letting other team members do all the work}, and other dysfunctional behaviors are not acceptable when working in teams. I ask teams to work together to resolve conicts on their own, but to reach out to me when a situation is unresolvable or problematic. Removing a team member Uncooperative1 hostile, or unresponsive team members mayr be "fired\" from a team. If you are red from a team, you will receive a zero foryour group project and peer feedback grades. Peer Reviews At the end of each project, you will be asked to rate the performance of your team members. When conducting the evaluation, be sure to think about your experiences with the team member throughout the entire project. These evaluations contribute to my nal evaluation of each student as a team member, so, please be fair and honest when evaluating your fellow team members. I will evaluate students based on their team members\" feedback and my own observations of team performance. I will not hesitate to give a 0 to a group member who did not carry their share of the work in the group project.
