Business analysis on a real-world financial statement of a small company. This project requires research. Of course, you can also ask me. Specifics of the project: In the first part of this project you reviewed the business of Letuscater.com and now its now time to apply algebraic principles to analyze our financial statement. I will provide Letuscaters 2011 P&L financial statement via an excel spreadsheet. Note that this year is still when we were just doing this as a hobby but once we realized that our catering sales exceeded $800,000, I started to take this business seriously and worked to increase our profits. Before I did that, I performed an analysis to calculate our cost, revenue and profit functions. Let me get you started. Let = and our revenue equation is () = . Plug in the numbers and you get 89,238.01 = (811,458.75) = 89,238.01 811,458.75 = 0.11 11%. This was the commission we received from the restaurant for each order we gave them. 1. You are calculating the cost function for the business in 2011. Just a reminder, the cost function is defined as () = + , . You will have to do research and group all the expenses in either a fixed cost or variable cost bucket. A cost is variable if it depends on catering sales and if it does not depend on our catering sales then it is a fixed cost 2. From the model calculate the break-even sales number per month. Note the numbers in the spreadsheet are for the complete year. 3. Calculate the Profit function. Extra Credit. As a business owner you want to make more profit. There are two ways to do that. Decrease cost with the same revenue or increase revenue more than you increase cost. Using the cost, revenue and profit equation, come up with ideas to increase profit. I will accept up to five ideas. The ideas are worth one point and the financial justification is worth the other four points. Here is a hint for all: One idea to increase revenue is to hire a full-time sales person. Thats worth one point (you are welcome) but to get other four points you must present how much cost that adds to the model and how much revenue must this sales person bring into the company to increase profits. So, assume a salary you will pay this person and use your equations to figure out how much extra catering sales your new employee must bring in to pay for themselves Please upload as a single pdf file. You will lose 10 points for each day that is late. #1, which must include what expenses you decided are fixed and which ones you decided are variable. Also show your work on the calculations for all three items. If you decide to do the extra credit, please use this template as your format. 1. Increase revenue by hiring a salesperson. I will pay them $3000 per month. (Then show your calculations using this $3000 cost on how much catering sales the salesperson must bring in to cover their cost.)
