BUSINESS ECONOMICS ASSIGNMENT NO 2 INFLATION, POPULATION & CURRENCY MOVEMENT
- The assignment requires you to a 7-10 Slide PowerPoint Deck (A deck is another term for a PowerPoint presentation). Select a country that starts with the same letter as the first letter of your last name. for me, it would be Vietnam.
- You cannot pick Canada.
Items to research
- Research the Inflation and other relevant metrics in the country from 2019 to 2022.
Presentation Breakdown
Part 1 (45 Marks)
- Slide 1:Title, Chosen Country, Name
- Slide 2:Basic Country information, Population, main imports, exports etc.
- Slide 3:Model graphically the Country's inflation over the last 5 years. Do not use a ready-made chart from the internet, you must create your own (Great opportunity to learn to chart in excel). If you do in-fact copy one, your mark will be 0. Other than the chart, you are limited to 2 Bullets (Sentences).
- Slide 4:Research the country's population growth over the same time frame as slide 3. Other than the chart, you are limited to 2 Bullets (Sentences).
- Slide 5:Explain if there is a correlation between slide 3 and slide 4. This slide should have 3 to 5 bullets, your goal here is to determine if the population increases or decreases are impacting inflation. Traditionally, inflation is a result of increased demand on resources, and increase in population would certainly cause an increase in demand.
Part 2 (40 Marks)
- Slide 6:Compare the inflation in your chosen country to Canada. You may chart visually or have bullets with the information. Also note the difference in inflation between your country and Canada. Who has had the higher inflation? Are there any reasons for the disparity (if there is a disparity?). Max 5 bullets
- Slide 7: Evaluate the exchange rate between the two countries. That is the currency of your chosen country vs. the Canadian Dollar. What has been the impact on the currency, how is it correlated with the difference in inflation? Max 5 bullets
