After graduation, you are hired by a small company in the Toronto area. The company would like to purchase new equipment to stay current with technological advances. Your manager, Nazim Mohammad, asks all employees to research an emerging technology and submit a short informal report on their findings. Your manager will read these reports and choose one emerging piece of technology to purchase for the company.

  1. Choose one of the emerging technologies listed below.

  1. Gather credible sources that are written about your chosen technology. Find at least two sources to integrate into your report. These sources should be current. 


 

  1. By end of Week 4, make a reference list for your chosen sources. Submit your reference list to the relevant assignment folder. This is worth 1% of your assignment grade.


 

  1. Write- a short informal report in memo format to your manager on your chosen technology Include background information on the topic to help your manager understand the relevance of the news item to your field. Follow the report outline (below) carefully to ensure your report is complete.


 

  1. Document your sources in APA 7th edition format and include a title-page, in-text citations and a references page.


 

  1. Use an appropriate tone, technical writing style and correct format.


 

  1. Proofread, edit and revise your report prior to submission


 

Report Outline


 

The following components must be included in your report: 


 

  • Memo format
  • 1st paragraph - Summary
    • Provide a clear, concise overview of the report.
  • 2nd paragraph - Background
    • Provide relevant background information on your chosen topic, citing at least one source.
  • 3rd and 4th paragraphs - Facts/Findings
    • Summarize the key findings of your research. Be careful to include the article title and author along with in-text citations for any quoted or paraphrased content.
    • Include an explanation of why the technology is relevant to your small company.
  • 5th paragraph - Recommendation and Conclusion
    • Conclude your report and make recommendations about your findings for your small company
