GroupAssignment.Pfizer, Inc., developed a new antibiotic called Trovan (tro-vafloxacinmesylate). Tests showed that in animals Trovan hadlife-threateningsideeffects,includingjointdisease,abnormalcartilagegrowth,liverdamage,andadegenerativebonecondition.Severalyearslater,anepidemicofbacterialmeningitis sweptacrossNigeria.PfizersentthreeU.S.physicians to test Trovan on children who were patients in Nigeria's Infectious Disease Hospital.
