Butadiene is a chemical which is commonly used for manufacturing synthetic rubber. A manufacturing facility has a process vessel with 8, 000 kg of butadiene stored at 2300 kPag and 25C. The storage vessel is located inside a dike with an area of 200m2 . There are three process pipes attached to the vessel with the following diameters: 1.5 inch, 2 inch, 3.5 inch. The height of the liquid in the vessel is 1.9m. Calculate the chemical exposure index and hazard distances for a release of liquid butadiene from this vessel due to a vessel rupture. Atmospheric pressure can be assumed to be 101.3 kPa and ratio of Cp/Hv can be assumed to be 5.45 x 10-3 1/C based on the release conditions
