Calabria Stone is a privately-owned company with approximately 200 employees. They are located inAcheson Business Park in Edmonton, Alberta. Calabria Stone specializes in natural stone masonry, stone restoration, stonework repair, cultured stone, fireplaces, alleys, patios, retainingwalls almost anything involving stone. The business has been founded on the old fashioned values of honesty, attention to detail and high-quality workmanship. Mario Marelli the founder trained in Italy under his father and grandfather, he then took his craftsmanship skills and moved to Canada in 1967, following in the family tradition he establishedCalabria Stone. Today the business is a 3rdgeneration family business.

The company has several older stone masons who are masters in the trade, there are also younger labourers who are learning the trade and apprenticing under the masters. The work is hard and physical; stone is unforgiving, and mistakes can be costly. The company has had a difficult timeretaining young people to take over the traditions of stone masonry, as well they have a predominately male work force.
