Campaign Contributions and Election Outcomes Questions: Suppose a client from any political party comes to you and asks: Does more campaign spending cause a candidate

Campaign Contributions and Election Outcomes Questions: Suppose a client from any political party comes to you and asks: "Does more campaign spending cause a candidate to get a higher percentage of the vote?" The client gives you the attached data set on gubernatorial elections from 1980 - 2005 and asks you to analyze the question using this data. In your analysis please present the following:

Please use R Programming Language for the following analysis. 1) One table of summary statistics 2) One 2 X 2 table to illustrate a critical conditional difference 3) One table of regressions with sensitivity analysis 4) One comparison of relevant distributions to help tell the story 5) Please make sure to discuss whether the estimates are causal, and what you might do to produce more convincing causal findings. Variables used in below Data Set: Party: 1 = Republican, 0 = Democrat Genvote: Percentage of the vote captured in the general election. For example 52.16 means that the candidate captured 52.16% of the vote and won the election. The candidate with the highest percentage wins the election in this data. Year & State: State abbreviation Candidate: Candidate name Spending: Dollars spent during the election. The client is annoying so they gave you the actual amount of dollars spent. Of course due to inflation a dollar in 1980 could buy more than a dollar in 2005. Use the attached CPI adjustment to make the dollars comparable across years. The base year in the data is 2004. This means that due to inflation 43.6 cents in 1980 is equal to a dollar in 2004. Adj_Spend_2004: Transformed all of the spending data into 2004 dollars with given CPI. Pop: State population Pdem: Percentage of Democrats in the State (not national) House and Senate. This is seen as a good measure of the political leanings of a state in a given year. A larger number indicates more Democrats in the State House and Senate. Union: Percentage of employed individuals in a union in the State/Year. Unemployment: Unemployment rate for the State/Year.

Unemployment: Unemployment rate for the State/Year. Data Set: https://ucla-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/g/personal/sanketnikam_ucla_edu/ES-R3qUkei1AtuBoyEqoeyMBS-Klxa5gpEwUyuksfqK6iA?e=QwEbg2
