Health improves prosperity, or in other words, economic growth, by increasing the ability of workers to become more productive from a healthy body. As explained in the video, an example of health directly impacting economic growth was in the 19th century in the United States and Western Europe. During this period, technological advancements in agriculture were rampant and as such, overall contributed to the quality of crops/products and benefited the nutrition standard of the average person. As a result, people became taller, stronger, less prone to disease, and more productive. Because of this example, economists argue that low-income nations should focus heavily on reducing disease and improving nutrition in their countries to stimulate economic growth. Healthier children would be able to learn more at school and in turn take their health practices to adulthood and become productive adults, overall contributing to the economic growth of the future. Being healthy also contributes to people living longer lives in which less and less of their life is spent being paid at work because people are becoming very productive as their health increases, potentially allowing them to retire earlier. To tie this back to the real world, an example would be me. I recently lost a lot of weight last year and improved my nutritional intake and prior to this, I was not confident in myself to aim for any job whatsoever. By becoming healthier, I gained the confidence to go out there and finally get a job this year, overall not just contributing to the economic growth of the U.S. but also to my own personal economic growth.

Health can greatly improve from prosperity in many different ways, when there is growth in the agricultural economy and there is a rise in income, the general heath of people began to rise as they were able to afford better and more nutritious food. While these people grew taller and stronger, they were less susceptible to disease and ultimately were able to work longer and harder, making the output of their work more efficient. Another huge factor is that when people are living a prosperous life, they are able to afford better, healthier and cleaner food for themselves and their family. When people are living a prosperous life, they are able to pay more attention to their overall health and that becomes a trend in society as it has in todays day and age. I know personally, the more that I do not struggle and they more prosperous I become in life, the more I am able to eat better, work harder and more efficient, take care of my mental health as well as take care of my body like working out and staying active. In conclusion, having or living a prosperous life does greatly improve health to yourself and your family as well as other individuals.
