image text in transcribed Governmental and Not-For-Profit Accounting Spring 2016 Presentation Details Audience: Golden Van Dyke is a new member of the City Council for the City of Andyville, AL. He is a business professional with twenty two years of experience, but is not an accountant or financial expert. Golden has used CAFRs in his previous positions. Golden has some knowledge of the governmental accounting processes and has asked you two questions in order to enhance his decision making; (1) How does Andyville account for the acquisition and disposal of capital assets in the governmental funds, and (2) how does Andyville account for the issuance and repayment of serial bonds in the governmental funds? Resources: Essentials of Accounting for Governmental and Not-For-Profit Organizations: Chapter 2/4/5 and the course packet. Examine the guidance, examples, and exercises provided to formulate a proper response to Golden's inquires. Analysis: We want to provide Mr. Van Dyke with both the accounting for capital assets and long-term debt including how these transactions are presented (disclosed) in the financial statements. Using examples is a good way to communicate these topics. You should create PowerPoint slides with examples, journal entries, and other visual aids that will help answer Mr. Van Dyke's questions. Length: Five minutes. If your speech is less than four minutes or longer than six minutes grading starts at 25 points for undergraduates and 36 for graduates. Schedule: On campus students: Thursday March 3rd to Wednesday March 9th. See the Canvas sign-up sheet for specific times. Distance students: March 17 th to March 22nd.
