According to Kerin & Hartley, The four types of consumer productsdiffer in terms of (1) the effort the consumer spends on the decision, (2) the attributes used in making the purchase decision, and (3) the frequency of purchase (2017, p. 239). However, each consumer may place certain consumer products into different product categories. For example, one consumer may view a laptop as a shopping product (if they are shopping around for a brand that fits their need), while others may view a laptop as a specialty product (if they are only considering one specific brand/product).
The general consumer product type that Babo Botanicals Sunscreen would fall into is convenience products because sunscreen is a product that most people dont put much thought into. However, for me personally, this product is a specialty product because I will only purchase this sunscreen brand, can justify the higher price tag compared to other sunscreen options, and did a lot of research to find this product.

The two consumer product types that fits with Grass Straws are specialty and unsought.
According to the textbook, specialty products are items that the consumer makes a special effort to search out and buy (Kerin & Hartley, 2020). Specialty products are where consumers goods are designed for a significant type of consumer's need. Examples of specialty products are professional services, luxury goods, cars, and designer clothes. Grass Straws fit in this category since the straws are made from grass and can sell in bulk to restaurants.
The textbook defines unsought products as items that the consumer does not know about or knows about but does not initially want (Kerin & Hartley, 2020). Unsought products are where consumers may not have a lot of information about the products and consumers may not care to use it unless it is brought to their attention. Examples of unsought products are life insurance, smoke detectors, and home alarms. Grass Straws fit this product type as many consumers are not aware of the alternative to plastic straws and effects on the environment.
Here is a breakdown of the other two product types.
Convenience products are regularly purchased by the consumer. They require no effort or decision making when buying these types of goods. Examples of convenience products are toothpaste, toilet paper, and gum.
Shopping Products are where consumers buy less frequently. Consumers are a tad more selective when buying these types of goods. Things that consumers look for in this category are product quality price and design. Example of shopping products include car, clothing, furniture, and airline services.

The biggest difference of social media and traditional marketing is through how the message is sent to the audience. Traditional marketing uses things like magazines, boards, and newspapers. Digital marketing on the other hand uses social media apps (Facebook, Instagram, etc), and websites. However, traditional marketing isnt old fashioned (Bailey, J. 2021, April 15). Traditional marketing still, plays an important role in peoples lives with the ever growing need to step out of the digital world (Bailey, J. 2021, April 15). However, this doesnt mean that digital marking isnt important either, because digital marking plays a large role in peoples daily use of technology. Additionally, digital marketing resonates with the younger generation (Gen Z, etc) as it advertises on apps like Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. The added benefit is that digital marketing also reaches a different audience on other social media apps (Facebook, linkined in)aka the older generation (Bailey, J. 2021, April 15).
With the benefits do come some risks of social media marketing. The first is that digital marketing can damage the brand reputation. This can happen because companies arent always to match the quality of the product with their social media (this could be due to lack of knowledge on their marketing teams end). Companies also risk offending their audience if they are not respectful about what they are posting and being sensitive to all. Second, social media requires consistency to keep up with posts and their audience. Many organizations may not have a social media plan and fall behind on their posts. On the flip side, many organizations could post too much and overuse their presence on social media causing people to become disinterested (Fanaras, L. 2020, March 5).
My personal favorite social media website as to date is YouTube. The app is easy to navigate on any device, and has always relatively been easy to use as the consumer. YouTube also offers YouTube red which is free ads and cable TV, but they are never pushy about it, and they also keep ads to a minimum. When I used to work at a local bridal store, I used to be in change of social media there and loved it. I was in charge of the website, Instagram, and Facebook. After I left, a co-worker of mine updated all of the work I did and she did FANTASTIC. Here is the website-- https://angeliquesbridal.com/. Fun fact, I am the girl in the white dress in a crown
