Can someone help me answer this business law question?

Mary and Ted met on line and quickly fell in love.In July of 2015 they decided to take the "big step" and get married.The wedding was to be held in Huntsville Ontario in front of about 150 friends and relatives.

Mary had noticed an advertisement in the local Huntsville paper for a photographer, Leslie Chan and arranged a meeting with her.Chan provided a package of services valued at about $6,000 which Mary and Ted eagerly purchased by providing a cheque in the amount of $3,000 by way of down payment.

However about four days before the wedding Mary stopped payment on the package as she viewed some other pictures taken by Chan and considered them shoddy.

Despite not being paid Chan completed the contract but withheld deliveringthe photos and videos pending full payment

Mary was furious and began a one woman campaign against Chan by posting material on various social media sights accusing Chan and her business of everything from "lying to consumers" to "extortion" and "fraud." These negative on line commentaries continued for over a year with postings both in English and Chinese.A great deal of Chan's business was with the Chinese community

Chan has noticed a significant drop in her business after the on line attacks started.She has estimated that the drop in business after the attacks has cost her as much as $300,000 and fears she might have to shut down her business.

Chan has come to you for advice.What would you recommend she do?What defences do you see Mary having?Do you see any potential claim against Ted?
