Page 1 of 6 Elements of a Marketing Plan Shirley Torres MKT/421 Professor: Tom O'Brien March 5, 2016 Page 2 of 6 Elements of a Marketing Plan Companies are businesses and organizations that are able to grow based on their availability and investment resources and the environmental factors that call for the closing of any gaps while unveiling new products that will meet the demands or at least some of the demands of their customers. \"Other environmental factors, however, influences the growth and development of these companies and most firms in the world today have contributed their success to the environmental factors that majorly provided a small opportunity that has seen them rise and grow to their current worth today\" (Voiculet, Belu, Parpandel, & Rizea, October 2010). With this being said we need to remember that there have been other internal factors with organizations that have been large contributors to the growth, development, and success of some agencies while others have been able to develop through environmental considerations as low strengths. Equity Bank and Geek Squad Equity Bank Limited is a well-known and large organization that operates within the banking industry providing normal day to day banking services as well as providing corporate social activities. The need to enter into the banking sector, the history of the company is able to demonstrate a true contribution to the environmental factors that have pushed the founders to start this organizations. The other internal factors of the original founders of this company, there are other significant environmental factors which the company owes their success too. The history of the bank explains that the organizations was started in order to act as a solution to strict banking regulations. During this timeframe people feared the cost of owning items such as bank accounts due to the tight regulations that were involved. Page 3 of 6 Changes in the company's purchasing habits have changed over time due to the changes and advancements in technology. People can now do online banking and never step foot into the bank itself. We can pay bills, transfer funds, order checks dispute transactions, check balances, make deposits from our smartphones, and set up auto bill pay all online. \"These advancements have attracted lot of customers with changing the purchasing patterns of the clients in the recent year\" (Holsapplea & Joshi, 2000). These improvements are a result to the change in technology which in turns stimulates the adoption by other companies. This company has witnessed many environmental trends since they were founded. Social, economic, technology, competitive, and regulatory trends are taking place due to the nature of our environment and people. Social trends will involve changes within our populations and the relationship concerning the company. A company need to be able to enable people in order transact and access their accounts anytime and anyplace. Transactions can be conducted online rather than inside the local branch which translates to the social life patterns of the customers. Economically, the company has been able to enable their customers to withdraw their accounts to a zero balance, making it more affordable for all levels of people to have an account. The interest rates are somewhat small, which makes it easier for people to use them regardless of the economic status at the time. Technology has allowed customers to conduct their transactions thru the mobile phones as well as being able to have a paperless option. With offering paperless options indicates that technology has gone even one step further and is working towards making transactions less complicated and more appealing to their customers. \"Regarding competitiveness, the company is operating in a competitive industry which requires innovations so as to become outstanding and distinct in the industry\" (Fairfield, Harmon, & Behson, 2011). The introduction of the online banking and transactions has been due to competition which calls Page 4 of 6 for change. In regards to regulations the industry is associated with a particular guideline that is provided by law and as long as the company adheres to these rules put in place they will have a much easier time running a business and less likely to have any legal issues. Equity Bank Limited operates within their boundaries that have been provided by the banking industry and have experienced growth and development bringing them to the level they currently are. Differentiation strategies are the tricks used from different competitors in many different types of organizations and industries. \"Every organization adopts particular differentiation strategies so as to win larger markets and dominate its competitors for the purpose of profitability and successful operations\" (Bajwa & Ross, 2002). Equity Bank Limited in more recent years has managed to come up with a unique transaction method through the introduction of a sim card that would enable the customers to use during all their transactions for the company. \"This strategy is unique and has never been utilized by any other organization in the same industry and, therefore, likely to benefit the company in future enhancing more profits through customer based expansion\" (DeTienne & Koberg, November 2002). From the Geek Squad Case study, it is obvious that as the environmental factors change companies should have specific measure in place for them to change as well in order to keep up with the environment. With the Geek Squad partnering up with Best Buy they are able to open themselves up to a larger market increasing their operations in order to provide more services to more customers accomplishing a larger growth within the organization. It is evident that these changes in the environmental conditions are not always harmful to a business and sometimes can become an advantage to an organization with a whole new level of exploitation. A recommendation for Geek Squad would be to start marketing in different countries and extend their services to consulting with different items, education, and other related services that Page 5 of 6 might meet a customer's needs. With extending their services they would be able to expand their organization to a much broader customer service network. Conclusion The effects of environmental factors on organizations are imperative to a business as far as the organizations development process goes. This will create additional innovation and enable a company to continue growing, developing, and stay successful. A company should invest in the interests of their customers considering it is the customers that will continue to help them grow and remain successful. The success of any company is going to be based on the size of their customer base and it is the customers that will continue to return to that business when the services they are looking for are being provided.
