can you help me respond positively only to this class discussion?

One of the things that I liked Dr. Steinberg mentioned that there are some genetic dispositions that people may carry that only come out positively or negatively in the environment that the person is in. For example someone can be naturally smarter than most people would have the chance to be genetically but if they aren't put on or choose a environment that helps push them to their potential and put the effort in to study. Basically both nature and nurture have to work together hand in hand to have the person reach their potential. This is why kids can differ so much from their parents even with having the genetic makeup of the child similar to their own. Because the nurture, the environment, that they are in is more than likely not the exact same as what the parent grew up in.

When comparing two people that could have the trait of being a leader we find that typically they can come from a linage of people who are brave, outspoken, and confident amongst other qualities that we can associate with being a leader.This is not to say that someone can not acquire these traits and be the first in their family to exemplify what it means to be a leader but typically you can find connections in the family with these traits. For me the pastor of my church came from such a family. His dad owns a business in Missouri and holds traits like being confident in his trade. My pastor is a good example of someone having the genetic background of leaders and also having the environment around him help shape him into a leader. Another example of someone that had the disposition to be a good leader but never followed through with it was my best friend in college. His mother died when he was an infant and his dad left him, but both his aunt and uncle ( he lived with them growing up) were leaders in the church. My friend is still one of the most outspoken guys I know and very confident but the environment he allowed himself to get into in college didn't allow him to become a good leader in his life today. I believe the environment they allowed themselves to be in ultimately shaped them being a leader or not.
