Can you help me respond to 2 of my classmates discussion post Understanding metaphysics interests me the most because I have always asked those questions to myself since I was younger. Why do we exist? What was before this? The enigmatic nature and abstract questions that cannot be answered in our lifetime are interesting and it never "ends". The quote that stood out to me was, "Metaphysics is the study of ultimate reality and the question of what really exists in the universe. Metaphysics also encompasses questions of freewill and causality". It may not relate to my life in a sense of changing my day to day life, but I do think about questions such as, "why are we here "slaving" away for the entirety of our lives"? So much time has passed in this place and I'm working every day for small amounts of paper, insane. definitely a topic that keeps me thinking. I do not think there are any questions I have that can be answered related to this topic other than the knowledge I have yet to gain. Hello classmates, Eugene here. Ethics is a philosophy that interests me due to the ever-changing world we live in and the wonder of what makes us do the things we do. Ethics is a discipline concerned with what is morally right and morally wrong. Even when we do things that may be legal, we have to ask ourselves "Is it right!". I used to be told by the older generation that "Everything legal ain't right and everything right ain't legal". This is what some would call a moral compass. A moral compass is basically a person's ability to judge what is right and what is wrong and to behave accordingly by that measure. One person may be legally able to obtain control of something that would rightfully belong to someone else. However, it may be morally wrong to take something from someone who does not willfully relinquish it. In the book of Matthew Chapter 7 verse 12 in the Holy Bible it states "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do even so to them: for this is the law of the prophets." (KJV) In essence, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" (The Golden Rule)
