can you help me respond to my classmates discussion post?

hi class, The Humanistic approach to the world will deal with the uniqueness, worth and values of the individual. Humanism believes in the concept of free will and being able to choose your own destiny. Within the worldview you will find that it believes in the ability for humans to reach their potential. I enjoyed learning about what Fromm believed about the concept of love within the ideology of Humanism. He believed that love and relationships with people were more important than ones commitment to the state. He believed that love was the best way for us to connect and feel part of the community. Carl Rodgers believed that people generally were good and trustworthy people that just needed good environments to thrive. Rodgers suggested that it was a humans natural tendency to grow into maturity and greater independence as they started to progressing age.

Existential is basically Humanism backwards in a lot of ways. When it comes to Existentialism it tends to focus more on the negative side of human nature whereas Humanism focused on human potential and growth. Existentialism adopts the in-itself for-itself mentality whereas Humanism you could find a more community driven approach. Roll May believed that when an individual is trying to pursue its individual freedoms that they very well could choose to oppose the social standard of morality to reach their personal goals and happiness. With theories like Rollo it can be easily assumed that in this type of worldview when change and crisis happens that we can change our values to further benefit our needs and our comfort. In a worldview that can be more focused on the individual it can be easy for the individual to become self centered in trying times.
