can you help me respond to my classmates discussion post?

Good Evening,

There are some differences between humanistic and existential perspectives. For example, existentialism is the belief that existence precedes essence (CrashCourse, 2016), and is focused on the general human existence and the meaning of life rather than the individual. Existentialists do not believe the purpose of life is controlled and created by a higher power, although that does not mean an existentialist does not believe in a higher power. Humanistic perspectives focus on the individual on a personal and unique level, both from outside views and the individual's views of themselves. For the humanistic approach, one's personality is focused on how one views the world from their own perspective.

One of the philosophical assumptions most important to Rogers is notions of responsibility, where he believed humans are inclined naturally to mature, and the ultimate goal is to reach a state of self-actualization, although not every person is capable of achieving their full potential. Rogers believed that one should trust that all people are trying to reach this state of self-actualization. Rogers also believed when people are given the right opportunities and conditions, they will be able to achieve self-actualization.

Most, if not all, people want to have a meaning to their life, but there may be times of crisis or change when one is faced with the choice to abandon or keep their beliefs of life having meaning. If one chooses to believe that there is no authority or power to give them a meaning to life, one must choose to give their own life meaning, which means complete freedom over their life choices and what that means to them. This control over one's own life can be terrifying to many because that means they do not have one clear correct answer to look to and they must then create their own.
