Can you help me with the question 1 , 2 and 3 provided
Running Case Study Global Management Terry is enjoying the popularity and the resulting rising occupancy rates at Lizard Beach Resort. Particularly, there has been a large influx of tourists from China in the last year. This has been a direct result of China's booming economy and the diminishing trade barriers that once restricted foreign trade. There has not only been an increase in the number of Chinese leisure tourists, but there has been a considerable increase in the number of Chinese businessmen travelling in search of business opportunities. In order to offer a competitive edge against other neighbouring resorts in the Pilbara, Terry has set up an online reservations system which many of these Chinese guests have taken advantage of. In response to the growing occupancy rates, particularly from the Chinese tourists, Terry is currently in the process of recruiting employees who can speak Mandarin. Currently, Mei Huang, a part-time waitress in the resort restaurant, is the only Chinese employee at the resort. She is well liked by the fellow waiters and waitresses in the restaurant as she is always willing to share the workload, help them with their tasks and work as a team. However, her immediate supervisor cannot understand why Mei Huang is often quiet during pre-shift briefings when instructions and tasks are distributed to the team. She is often seen to nod her head in obedience and never seems to complain about the tasks delegated to her. Despite the fact that Mei Huang is a full-time overseas student, she is also known as the most hardworking waitress as she is always willing to work overtime or take extra shifts. Mei Huang does not seem to understand that there are Occupational Health and Safety implications of working extended shifts, nor does she heed the requirements of her student visa. In contrast, the number of European guests has considerably fallen. Terry queries this phenomenon with Hector, an Australian-born Greek, who is the only fresh seafood supplier in the region. Hector mentions that he still has family in Greece who are currently struggling to make ends meet due to "the poor decisions made by Greek Government and the political instability in Eastern Europe". He mentioned that these poor decisions have resulted in a recession in Greece which has subsequently affected Europe's overall economy. The instability in the political environment in Europe has resulted in fewer international companies wanting to invest in those countries, thereby limiting their economic development. #*The End* Using the principles leamt in Module 2, appointed facilitators should facilitate the following questions in small groups: 1. Using your understanding of Hofstede's cultural dimensions, explain Mei Huang's behaviour as an employee at Lizard Beach Resort. 2. How useful is Hofstede's cultural framework in understanding the issues that could affect Lizard Beach's success as a business? What other factors could affect Lizard Beach's performance? HINT: reflect on the lecture on Global Management 3. How would you explain why there are fewer tourists from Europe and more guests from China? FUNM1100 Module 3 - Global Management 2/3
