1. There are many advantages and disadvantages of transporting products via pipeline. Pipelines are one of the most effective and reliable means of product transportation for enormous amounts of liquid or gas. They are typically underground and provides a continuous flow of products. Another advantage is that pipelines are environmentally friendly since they emit lower greenhouse gasses than other transportation methods. Pipelines are also safer because there are less chances of accidents associated with other transportation options and they have numerous levels of safeguards in place to stop spills and leaks.

The disadvantages of pipelines are that they can be vulnerable to natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides and floods which can lead to leeks, spills, or explosions. With that comes another disadvantage which is the environmental impact of such disasters which can impact ecological areas. Another drawback is the cost and time in building and maintaining these infrastructures and once built it is hard to change the route or product that it is transporting unlike other transportation options.
