Historically speaking there is a misunderstanding that Ethical issues only arise in the business world however not only do they happen in a business environment but also in one's personal life. For example, when the 2016 elections were taking place one of our family members suddenly began leaning towards a specific movement without doing any background research or having any actual experience as to what it is that they are doing to serve and benefit the community. We were having a family conversation when another one of the children brought up the topic and we then began discussing the topic which at times became pretty tense. We then explained to her that her views and comments were hurtful because she was constantly accusing our family of racism towards the black community not properly assessing the fact that our family is Hispanic and of an immigrant background although we did understand that the movement she was following was preying on the emotional feelings of the black community and the people who supported them because of the historical inequalities in this country and the current events taking place at the time. The ethical situation here is that we are of Hispanic decent and have a long history of immigrants in our family who have personally endured circumstances in which we have been victims of racism and inequality and this is why we will always refrain from discriminating anyone else. After we finished the conversation and we presented her with some background that was based on some old interviews of the president of that movement she was a bit more acceptable of our views based on the evidence presented but she would continue participating in the movement with a bit more caution and more observant of the movement.

Ultimately our relative decided to continue her pursuit of wanting to be part of something even if the movement was not something we would encourage her to follow, she believed that this was something she needed to discover all on her own which she ultimately did and after months of coverage and facts coming to light that this movement was defrauding the community she stopped being part of it.
